Why audit a practice resource?
Explanations shape habits
A rationale can teach more than an answer key—but only when it identifies the relevant fact, rule, boundary, and reason competing choices are weaker.
Scores hide different problems
The same incorrect answer may reflect a missing concept, an overlooked qualifier, a measurement-unit error, or confusion about when to seek direction.
The 12-check audit
Check only what you can verify from the resource itself or its clearly linked documentation. “I assume it probably does” is not a verified check.
Interpret the score without overclaiming

Run a five-item rationale sample
Choose varied items
Select five items from different domains or task areas. Do not cherry-pick only easy items or questions you already answered correctly.
Hide the answer first
Write the decisive fact, the rule or definition you believe applies, and the role-safe action before viewing the publisher’s rationale.
Compare explanation structure
Mark whether each rationale addresses the evidence, the governing concept, the best option, and at least one plausible distractor.
Verify one claim
For each sampled item, verify one important framework claim against a current official public source. Keep the check narrow and traceable.
Classify the learning gap
Record whether the miss came from knowledge, qualifier reading, measurement units, timing, documentation language, or role boundaries.
Write a transfer prompt
Change one nonessential detail while preserving the same decision rule. If the reasoning still works, you are practising transfer rather than answer memory.
Red flags that deserve a pause
One red flag may be correctable; a pattern should change how much weight you give the resource.
- Claims of real, recalled, leaked, or guaranteed examination questions.
- No visible publisher, ownership statement, version date, or correction route.
- Explanations that repeatedly say only “A is correct” without identifying the decisive fact.
- Scenarios that blur implementing a written plan with independently designing or changing it.
- Outdated domain labels presented as current without an edition notice.
- Pressure tactics built around invented pass rates, countdowns, rankings, or official endorsement.
- Requests to upload client-identifying details into public examples or ordinary support messages.
